About six weeks ago, I called Capital One to cancel my credit card with them because I didn't want to pay the annual fee. She said okay she would. I asked her to send me a letter of confirmation that my account had been cancelled and that I would receive the letter within 5 to 7 business days. I had heard so any horror stories about them lately which is why I wanted a letter of confirming that my account had been cancelled.

After waiting 6 weeks I called them to ask where the letter was confirming that they had cancelled my credit card. The girl said that instead of canceling my credit card since I had been with them since 1991 THEY HAD INCREASED MY CREDIT LIMIT $1000.00. Then she said I OWED THEM $39.00 BECAUSE THEY HAD INCREASED MY CREDIT LIMIT!

I told her I wanted to cancel the card and that I wanted a letter confirming that they had cancelled my account. She gave me the same line that I would receive the letter within 5 to 7 business days. I asked the girl for her name and she just mumbled something - I asked her to spell it and again she just mumbled something. I asked her to repeat the spelling she VERY CLEARLY SAID "I HAVE OTHER CUSTOMERS TO WAIT ON AND HUNG UP ON ME.

I have a feeling that CAPITAL ONE will try to ruin my credit report because of this $39.00 that I OWE THEM BECAUSE THEY INCREASED MY CREDIT LIMIT.
