Laura, You seriously need to seek help for your bitterness.

Bunny, Why don't you work the business and find out for yourself....That way no one has to lay out their *personal* financial information to a group of hecklers on the internet.

Rebekah, Your comments against Laura are too harsh. Laura you have a right to post anything you want. You brought up some excellent insights about the inner circle of MK. You have courage that others lack to exposure unfairness within MK. Both Laura and Wendy bring thoughtful but opposing views of MK leadership. They both have my respect.

Mary,

Nice spin. *no one said that Laura couldn't post what she wanted. It also has nothing to do with what she is posting but rather her bitter, antagonistic way of posting it. To those with open eyes..it screams issues. I hope she is able to seek help and heal whatever wounds she has.

Rebekah:

I understand your interpetation of a request to see some typically shared financial information as being possibly intrusive. I based my interest/request on experiences I've had in looking into franchises, and some other, similar business opportunities, where this sort of information is readily available, and asking to see it is, not only no big deal, but expected. So, apparently, with MK, it's not like that. Okay. Maybe it should be, maybe not. But asking, in view of the practices in other, similar, businesses, is not out of line.

I'm not a heckler: asking questions and engaging in vigorous discussion is not heckling.

Everyone brings to any new thing they do all the experience they have; I, like any and every one of us, tend to look at this, and any new venture, through the lens of past personal experience. I can't have been with MK any longer than I have been, and in any case sometimes a fresh eye sees afresh - does the fact that I'm new disqualify my interest in the company? Disqualify me from this discussion? Can only those with inner circle experience get to have, and share, an opinion? Oh, but not even all of those, apparently, since you take exception to Laura revealing her wounds - wounds she received through her experience in MK - so what if she is bitter (although I don't read her remarks that way at all): who is there in this world with the authority to disallow her bitterness, or disappointment, or sadness, or regret, or anger, or anything she genuinely feels, and why shouldn't she reveal those honest feelings, honestly?

Rebekah and Mary:

I saw my first copy of Applause when I received my own first copy just a day or two ago, which was apparently rather late according to my sign-up date.

If I came into this with less information than the typical, average, newly recruited consultant, maybe my recruiting consultant and director are also atypical. I have had no way of knowing whether or not that's true, and reading here has helped very little, as the discussion here seems to present, at best, a very inconsistent and contradictory picture of current MK policies and practices; and, as well, this discussion is marred by unneccessary unpleasantness on the part of many contributors, making it even less useful to anyone new to the company.

Bunny - 12 Feb 2004

Hi Bunny, Wendy here and I agree that not much in the last few posts can be useful to anyone new. I would walk away from this site if I was new and not feel that I learned a thing. If I am guilty of getting involved in an emotional battle rather than serving up ideas that will help new people or even seasoned people, then I apologize right now. My intention was to never get all wrapped up with another person on here. Frankly I hate conflict more than anything and I (as stupid as this sounds) just try to get along with everyone and be a nice person. Personal "digs" on people doesn't help and they feel worse when they are served up. So if my words make me appear otherwise, I wish to correct that now. Let's agree to disagree and try to keep this whole thing fact focused and not personal. Otherwise this is just like all those other combative forums out there except no one has sworn yet ;-) Wendy T.

Hi Wendy,

"Otherwise this is just like all those other combative forums out there except no one has sworn yet" - lol

Wendy, I just posted a sort of summary post (117) wherein I tried to break some of this overheated stuff into its component parts, at least from my perspective.

I want to add here that when I have asked for financial information, I never expected or wanted to see it with personal identifiers attached; I explained this at greater length in 117.

I'm not even sure that we all disagree with each other here quite as much as it might, as first, appear. No one's experience cancels out the other guy's - or gal's, in this case - but all, taken together, make up the whole, complex picture, as I said in 117, warts and all. As MK moves into more and more countries and cultures worldwide, there will be yet more changes, no doubt.

As the business/regulatory environment evolves, there will be responsive changes in MK, no doubt about that, either.

I think it's great to be positive, and one of the most positive things in life, to my eye, is to listen with an open mind/heart and keep working to make one's profession, industry, and/or company better every day.

I think good and ethical persons in every field naturally, at first, hate to hear about colleagues who are misbehaving and supervising personnel who may be turning a blind eye; BUT as much as we hate to hear about it, once we get past our initial disappointment, aren't we also truly obliged to roll up our sleeves and help with the discovery, correction, and clean up? not least so that those who have been injured by bad practice will not have suffered, and spoken up, in vain?

Sometimes on these boards people really get their dander up because there is no modifying tone of voice or gesture, just words on a screen, and things can easily be taken in a spirit never intended by the writer.

In my experience, hurting people usually aren't looking for anyone to "fix" things for them, but do want to get the truth of their experience out in the open, in an atmosphere of understanding and acknowledgment, and be met by listening hearts, as well as ears.

I truly sympathize with anyone, anywhere, who jumped into MK, or any other business, only to find themselves deceived and ill-used: that such things happen doesn't mean whole companies are necessarily bad, but if a company is generally good, and committed to ethical dealing, then the most important voice to be heard is the voice of the injured person. If only for practical reasons: "People who are not heard at home soon tell their tale abroad" - well known by every PR person everywhere.

Of course it's even better if the company actually sincerely cares, but for their own sake, they should at least pretend to, lol.

Congratulations on your success with MK and on your successful life in general, and I wish you the same and better in future,

Bunny - 12 Feb 2004

Thanks Bunny! Wendy
