I am a new consultant and I'm still trying to get a few things understood.

Do you suggest having a lot of inventory? If not then how much inventory should I start with. I can understand having product on hand but not $3000.00 worth. Where does one put it all.

Did you like the business, is it really everything they say it is or is it hogwash.

I know a lot of people who are not out there selling because they cannot or do not want to get credit cards. My self personally, I cannot be the only person in the world who doesn't want to get one.

Hey Veronica -

You won't have to guess what my answer to this would be. First, ask yourself if you have any customers. If not, then why have a full store with no one to buy it from you? BUILD is the way to do it. You build a customer base and inventory as the customer base builds. $200 is the minimum you can order at first. If you want to start getting the free product, you start at $600 (a level at which the director gets alot of credit for a variety of things) and that'll give you a good start.

Regarding if people like the business or not - you'll get a variety of opinions about that - just check the archives. What to watch and what to ask about are the "claims" of income (or lack thereof). Usually, there's alot of fluff with no real information when the more positive experiences are shared. Ask questions, point blank ones. When you do so and they point to a NSD or a top sales director's income rather than their own, that's a red flag, usually there's nothing to brag about on their own.

There are alot of misprepresentations in Mary Kay and more and more sites are being created to get the word out about the deceptions. This is a great site for incredible information which should answer all your questions. Read it and decide for yourself what you are comfortable with and DO educate yourself on multi-level-marketing businesses so you do not make the same mistakes so many of us unsuspecting "former" Mary Kayers have.
