- 18 Oct 2003 Last time I posted comments here was in June, 2003. Let me tell you about my Mary Kay business since then. I entered DIQ (Director in Qualification) and finished as a Mary Kay Sales Director at the end of August. I'm doing very well with my business despite having moved and virtually beginning to build a client base all over. I love my business! I love mentoring other women to success in this business! Here's the thing about a Mary Kay business: YOU MUST WORK! Inventory or not, this business works if you do! This is not a 'get rich quick' scheme. It is a legitimate business with a GREAT product! Many women have gone before all of us to make this a great company with a wonderful opportunity for women. You must be willing to do what it takes to make your business grow....which is....WORK! NO BUSINESS will grow without work. It takes time to plant the seeds, to nurture them and turn them into good clients. In order to do that, you have to be a good Consultant. You have to know how to work your business, then you have to DO IT! It's sad when I read of the negative experiences of some women and their husbands. I'm so sorry that those things happened. For the most part, Mary Kay has wonderful Directors, willing to help in any possible way. No one wants someone to be 'stuck' with inventory. The object of this business or any business selling a product is to MOVE the product. That means holding Skin Care Classes, doing facials, booking appointments, going into businessess to place Facial boxes or leave your books and...the KEY IS FOLLOWING UP! If this sounds like work it's only because it is! A Mary Kay business is a CHOICE....a decision to get your business off the ground no matter what it takes. Having inventory at hand helps a lot but is by no means a guarantee of success. Hard work is.
