I am a Mary Kay Sales Director & I am shocked at so much negativity! This business is NOT a get rich quick scheme, neither is it a pyramid. A Director does not "Buy her way to the top". Since both sides have not been represented by opinion #35, this Director you refer to was probably so close to finishing qualification that it would be foolish to start over.

THis business works if you do, but so many people buy their starter kits, shove them under a bed & then complain that this business doesn't work! I have been in Mary Kay 2 1/2 years, was 8 months pregnant when I started, worked a full-time job & also ran a toy business. Too many people say they don't have time because they are sitting in front of the TV 5 hours a night! It is all in what you do with it!

In reference to Opinion #35, a Director can actually buy their way to the top. That is what my Director did, who is also a relative of mine. To do this, you must be dishonest and have NO integrity. She placed orders under her recruits names with her personal funds, so to have the 30 active consultants, and the production she needed to finish up DIQ and Car Production. She did get permission from her recruits, and then asked them not to tell anyone about it. I was at her house when she made the phone calls, she then looked at me and told me "This is not how you are supposed to do it" and then proceeded to tell me of another consultant who had done it this way, but someone called Mary Kay Corp. and they told her that she can remain a consultant, but will never be able to become a Director. It has been over two years now, and I have felt horrible knowing this the whole time. She has just finished qualification for the Grand Prix last month, and I'm not sure if she did it the right way or not. I have never been able to tell her how I feel about the way she did things. It is so hard for me to go to the Success Meetings and hear her tell her "I" story about how she became Director and won her car. I feel that I am just as much in the wrong because I have kept it inside and not told anyone about it.

I guess that Mary Kay does not do research to see who's Credit Card is being used to place the orders. I did some research on Mary Kay Intouch (a site for consultants) and it clearly states the rules about placing orders for other consultants'. You are not even supposed to place an order with a promise to be paid back. It states that "You must have the funds in hand". She was doing this strictly from her personal funds so she could qualify.

How horrible it must be to live knowing that everything that you have "achieved" has come from lies and dishonesty. In the end, I hope the she will realize that she has not Succeeded, she has failed. Success only comes to those who work for it. Too bad that she NEEDS the recognition so much that she would do these things.

People who enter into Mary Kay do not do so in the belief that they are going to be part of a charity, giving what is theirs to those who have not worked for or earned it.

Yet this is exactly what your relative did, and by the rules, this was not allowed.

This demonstrates a serious problem with the rules; in effect, this indicates that the Mary Kay organization has abusive policies, policies which reward people more for bringing in new consultants than for selling the same amount of product themselves.

These are not only abusive policies, they are the signs of a pyramid scheme.

I have no problem with your relative taking advantage of the rules the way she did; the rules are intrinsically wrong, so there should not be a compunction in breaking them.
