Wendy you are sounding like the typical MK Pink Caddie wacko! A post about the lawsuit against MK and here you are posting and post these novelish pro MK comments! Of course the cultish women who make BIG $$$ in recruiting is not going to blame MK for doing wrong! But I don't care how you put it, letting a person go because she couldn't make sales during sickness and pregnancy is INSANE! From all these posts supporting MK's decsion, it's obvious that Laura Ryan is right on the money on the greed and insanity that some in MK can be!

Response:

Your words are too harsh against Wendy. Several directors in my area lost their unit due to inadequate productivity(less than the established monthly sales quoto). It is a hardship for all involved. If MK changes the rules for one person, wouldn't they have to change the rules for all? Could all directors who lost their directorship due to poor performance for any reason also claim damages from MK? Obviously the woman who won her case against MK had a strong case. What about others out there? On the other hand does a company have the right to enforce rules and regulations about productivity? My husband and I are owners of a small business and yes, we have fired people who were not productive.

Response from Laura..... 2 points

#1 I agree companies have rights to enforce regulations about productivity if the employee knows there was supposed to be productivity. When we are recruited in MK, we are told there are NO QUOTAS, period. But, as you become familiar w/MK, you find there are LOTS OF QUOTAS......maintaining active status, maintaining team members, maintaining car production, maintaining qualifying production for promotions, then maintaining production after Directorship and if you fail in any of these areas, there are consequences, you lose this or that.....one of the biggest things is directorship.

Everyone is egged to become a director at some point...it's such an esteemed position. In private business, State Employment Agencies refer to 'conditions of hire' which means that an employer must provide, in writing, what is expected of the employee prior to him accepting a job, not when he accepts it. If an employee fails to meet some sort of production, but was never supplied the expectations in writing prior to hire, the employee will most probably be given his unemployment if fired for not producing.

#2 Production, what is it?......it's the submission of wholesale orders with assumption the products are sold or are going to be sold. Sooooooo many people place orders just to meet this or that 'quota' to maintain their status or stuff that it's a sin. So if someone chooses not to order stuff they really didn't need anyway, that's unproductivity???? MLM's such as Mary Kay, Inc.,are a system whereby you must perpetually recruit new people to keep it going. It's a numbers game as most will tell you about any MLM. At 2003 Career Conference, we were directed by the instructor at a training session, to write big R's on our neighbor's foreheads......so you had a room full of people whipping out their eyeliners, pens or whatever making a big R on each other's foreheads for "Recruiting"......that was a focal point of the training, to recruit..........there is only so much control, in a sales arena, one can have over another's decision to do or not to do something and I don't think that sales production really reveals anything about a person's work ethic, only that the people they contacted said NO and they got too many of them for the time they were allotted.
