This is complete BULL!!! No discounts advertised because it may "draw other consultants costomers away?" WHat a bunch of crap! Then how come there were National Sales Directors advertising on THE VIEW last year in the fall? Plus it's not like consultants will tell about discounts once customers reach them and customers will tell their friends and so and so on! You think a consultants will turn down a sale after she is talked into a discount or will she REALLY say "I must honor my "sister comsultants". PLEASE! This is just a way to keep from out doing Senior Executive Sales Directors!

Wendy here: I don't think I follow you on the above. First I will start with "The View"...that was not advertising. You obviously don't know what they were on there for. Mary Kay was approached about our 40th Anniversary and all the attention they are getting because of it. Those were Directors and National Sales Director Arlene Lenarz who were on there, representing Mary Kay. Unless someone goes on T.V. without legal being approached about it first, Mary Kay is aware of the media attention we get. Pamela Shaw was featured on a Nashville morning talk show and she was talking about Mary Kay but it was not for her, it was for Mary Kay. There's the answer to that.

The reason we are not allowed to advertise is because we agreed to it when we signed our agreement. Mary Kay wanted it to be that way from the beginning...keep everything fair. I have not seen this anywhere else and not in anyother company, where they encourage all of us to be go give and not steal customers and I find that honorable. If you advertise a sale and my customer picks up the paper and sees it, she could call you and buy from you and Mary Kay didn't want that so it's made crystal clear that we are not to advertise a discount. And yes consultants will turn down orders and refer the customer back to her consultant, I do it all the time and I have had my customers referred back to me from other consultants. There is no reason to be so desperate for a sale that you should have to or feel the need to steal business. The business is there for the taking if we just look! I just had on of my customers call me today to get her 20% Birthday Discount and another brand new customer find me on my website and order $40.00 worth because her consultant disappeared on her. I don't have to twist peoples arms to buy and I don't allow myself to be talked into a discount. I make my customers aware of the sales I run yearly when I first meet them at my appointments. That's the scoop.
