Hi this is Wendy and I just back last night from Leadership in Nashville. Leadership is a Directors training. I have to tell you that I am so happy that I got involved in this website because I want to breathe a little more hope into everyone who passes by this site.
If you read all the comments on here you probably have seen over and over, questions asked about what the company is doing about all the "wrongs" of the Directors and sales force.
I walked into our general assembly and on all of our seats was a sheet titled Lessons in Golden Rule Thinking with 13 points on it. I will give you a brief overview of each point. It begins with conducting yourself with dignity, enriching the lives of individuals to foster within them the philosophies on which the MK business was founded, act as an Ambassador or goodwill to Independent beauty consultants, be the essence of dependability, maintain high standards of integrity, honesty, responsibility in dealings with customers, consultants, other Directors and the company, never let that dignity be shattered by losing my temper, never let greed or pettiness influence me to do wrong, work through problems with the goal of reaching mutual peace, always be learning and willing to share with your sister consultants, teach and support recruiting practices within the guidelines of the Golden Rule, be Go-Give, honestly represent the career opportunity with claims substantiated by the company, respect and practice punctuality.
To all of this there was a huge roar of applause across the auditorium of my 5,000+ which I am sure also happened in the other 4 conferences as well.
Then there was a panel of 2 NSD's and 2 other people who discussed the DIRECTOR role in working with the cosultant. One topic mentioned of worthy note is NOT FRONTLOADING A CONSULTANT WITH INVENTORY and trying to be mindful of how she wants to run her business and base it on that. Then there was another loud roar of cheering and applause from the Director's! It was music to my ears to hear corporate MK talking about this, especially after I ran across this site!
Then they said in TWO separate trainigs taht we had, that it's the Directors responsibility to MAKE SURE THE CONSULTANT IS SELLING that product and that we should be LOSING SLEEP over it if they're not selling and to tell your consultants that you are losing sleep over it because they need to know that you want to help them!!!! I was so excited because I leaned to my friend and told her that this is exactly what I say to my consultants! THEN another NSD said that if the consultant wants to quit, we should offer to hold a class for her to sell off as much as possible for her and make her some $$ and then if there is leftover and she is still wanting to send it back, happily fill out the repurchase form with her and pack up the boxes and send it to the company!!!
Do you think Mary Kay would put on a convention where this is the topic chosen to be spoken about if they only are thinking about themself? Our president even touched on some of this too. Both times this was talked about, I called my 2 consultants who are moving up the quickest and let them hear it so they could learn from it too. The word that was said over and over was Integrity, integrity, integrity.
I have not a doubt in my mind, and of course I was there and heard it straight from the source, that Mary Kay is passionate about helping consultants become successful. If you have a Director that you are uncomfortable with or have questions about what she is doing, you need to have all the confidence in the world to call Mary Kay.
This business is a fun business and I think we get too wrapped up in all the drama of discouragements and set backs. A NSD said in another one of my trainings, "A set back is a set up for a comeback". I had a consultant miss earning her car by a smidge yesterday and she is facing it like a pro and pressing forward with more faith than ever.
I left conference and saw that corporate Mary Kay is making sure that nothing changes in Mary Kay Ash's absence and that her Golden Rule and Go-give philosophy live on.
I just had to share everything I saw and heard while there. Wendy

Mary Kay did not write the Golden Rule nor did she initiate serving others (Go-give)....God did, no one should forget that. Regardless whether Mary Kay Ash is alive or passed (which she is passed)........ALL human beings should behave this way daily.....God is watching all of us in all of our jobs.
Wendy: I agree and it's sure awesome that God inspired her to make those philosophies the forefront of her business which is now a part of the Mary Kay heritage! WT
