Beware of Telehone Solicitors
Impersonating San Jose Police
Officers' Assocation

The following advertisement was published in the May 13, 2001 edition of the San Jose Mercury News.

The number of complaints regarding telephone solicitors who have been contacting residents claiming to represent the San Jose Police Officers' Association has recently increased. These solicitors are using increasingly disturbing intimidation techniques designed to obtain YOUR MONEY!

The San Jose Police Officers Associaiton does not now, and has not ever, employed telephone solicitors to acquire donations for our programs in support of our community. All charitable donations come directly from Police Officers' donations.

The San Jose Police Officers' Association supports many youth programs throughout our community with our nonprofit foundation. We are proud of our commitment to groups like:

Our efforts are concentrated on youth programs because they represent the future of our city. Of our donations, 100% go to our nonprofit foundation and nothing is used for administrative expenses. It is because of our commitment to maintaining a "community focus" that we are grieved that outside groups are taking advantage of our good name to make profits for their personal gain.

Should anyone attempt to contact you and solicit donations, you can be assured they do not represent the San Jose Police Officers' Assocations. If you do receive a call, please try to get as much information as possible and contact us at the address below.
