X-Stn-Info:
I have worked for C1 for over 4 Years now. 2 of those strictly in collections taking phone calls and talking to customers who were overlimit or past due. Some of these comments are correct in that fees can be added in error. If your payment was mailed too late or you sent Western Union after the deadline or if you closed your account but were charged a membership fee. Sometimes cross sell items would be purchased for free trials and the customers forgot to cancel.

However, I am not sure I agree with society when they say credit card companies are responsible for decline in people's ability to maintain good credit. Credit Cards are like checkbooks. You know you only have a set limit, so monitor it.

You know when you draw interest on your checking account so why not remind yourself when you draw annual fees on your credit cards. Payments are never held like some people claim. I have seen how they are processed here. If you mail the statement piece with the right envelope then a computer posts your payment within 24 hours of receipt. If you mail in your own envelope then it must be posted by hand. Without the statement piece or envelope it takes even longer because it must be researched and posted correctly.

If society in general were responsible adults who managed thier finances correctly then they would not be in trouble with thier credit history. Do you know how many people told me in the 2 years on the job that they mailed in thier payment on thier due date so why did they get a late fee, and they used thier card for first 2 months and when annual fee posted in 2nd cycle which it states in agreement that it is a big surprise to them. I am sorry, but I never accept anything legally binding without reading my information first. Button up and read your agreements, those little slips of paper you threw away the day you activated your card and spent your limit!
